Education and Training:

You can work as a machine operator without formal qualifications. You will probably get some informal training on the job.

You can also become a machine operator through a traineeship in Manufactured Mineral Products. Entry requirements may vary, but employers generally require Year 10. Ask your career adviser about the possibility of starting some of this training in school.

Once you are employed, you may be able to develop, and have recognised, additional skills under the Manufactured Mineral Products Training Package that will expand your career opportunities within this industry.

Employment Opportunities:

Machine operators are employed by manufacturers of bricks, ceramic tiles, pottery, terracotta roof tiles and wood products. Employment can also be found with foundries and glass or metal manufacturers. Promotion to team leader is possible for experienced operators.
