Dental Assistant (WA)
Education and Training:
To become a dental assistant you usually have to complete a certificate in dental assisting. Entry to the course below usually requires Year 11 with English and science.
Ask your career adviser about the possibility of starting some of this training in school.

- Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Dental Radiography)
- Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Assistance during General Anaesthesia and Conscious Sedation)

Employment Opportunities:
Most dental assistants are employed by dentists in private practices and clinics. Some dental assistants undertake further study to become dental hygienists. Others gain further administrative experience and possibly qualifications to progress to practice management.
It is a large occupation with good employment opportunities.
