State/Territory Specific Information

Education and Training:

You can work as a gaming worker without formal qualifications, but employers usually like at least Year 10. You will probably get some informal training on the job.

You can also become a gaming worker through a traineeship in Hospitality. Entry requirements may vary, but employers generally require Year 10. Ask your career adviser about the possibility of starting some of this training in school.

Additional Information:

People working in the gaming area are required to be licensed. Licensing requirements may include a police check, credit references and fingerprinting. You must also complete Responsible Service of Gambling training, which is usually incorporated into staff induction.

Employment Opportunities:

SkyCity Adelaide runs its own training course when new croupiers are required. Trainee croupiers are instructed on the various gaming rules, public relations and presentation. They are also trained in basic chipping and shuffling skills. Successful applicants are chosen by a combination of their application, interview and aptitude test performance.
