Gaming Worker (QLD)

State/Territory Specific Information

Education and Training:

You can work as a gaming worker without formal qualifications, but employers usually like at least Year 10. You will probably get some informal training on the job.

You can also become a gaming worker through a traineeship in Hospitality. Entry requirements may vary, but employers generally require Year 10. Ask your career adviser about the possibility of starting some of this training in school.

Additional Information:

People working in the gaming area are required to be licensed. Licensing requirements may include a police check, credit references and fingerprinting. You must also complete a Responsible Service of Gambling certificate, which may be incorporated into staff training or may have to be completed separately.

Employment Opportunities:

The Jupiter Casino, the Reef Hotel Casino and the Conrad International Treasury Casino run their own intensive full-time training courses when new croupiers are required. Trainee croupiers are instructed in gaming rules, and basic chipping and shuffling skills.
