Education Aide (SA)
Education and Training:
You can work as an education aide without formal qualifications, but employers usually require at least Year 10. You will probably get some informal training on the job. Entry to this occupation may be improved if you have qualifications. You may like to consider a VET qualification in education support. Some courses provide training in specific education areas such as science, food or information technology. As subjects and prerequisites can vary between institutions, you should contact your chosen institution for further information. You may be able to study through distance education.
Additional Information:
To work in schools in SA you will need to obtain a Criminal History Screening Check authorised by the SA Department of Families and Communities and complete Responding to Abuse and Neglect (Mandatory Notification) Training. A medical clearance is also required as part of the application process.

Education aides are employed in government and non-government primary and secondary schools and colleges. Positions are identified by schools and the hiring of support staff is usually done by the school's principal, who matches the vacancy against a list of applicants with the identified skills. Jobs may be full time or part time.
