Sports Scientist (QLD)
Education and Training:
To become a sports scientist you usually have to study sports science, exercise science or human movement studies at university. Alternatively, you may choose to complete a degree in a relevant area, such as nutrition, physiotherapy or medicine, followed by further studies in sport.
To get into the degree courses you usually need to gain your QCE. A number of universities in Australia offer degrees in these areas. Universities have different prerequisites and some have flexible entry requirements or offer external study.

Additional Information:
The major employers of sports scientists are sporting academies (such as the Australian Institute of Sport) and professional sporting teams.

Employment Opportunities:
Sports scientists work at sports institutes, sporting clinics, health studios and sporting associations. Many professionals working in sports medicine are self-employed and may subcontract their services. Clients include professional and amateur sportspeople.
Sports scientists may work as consultants in health, fitness or rehabilitation. Some sports scientists volunteer at sporting clubs.
